  February 26, 2009 - Series Banquet Postponed

Unforseen Circumstances Force SMART Officials to POSTPONE Banquet

Stuarts Draft, VA - SMART Series officials found out this week that due to circumstances beyond our control with the venue chosen for the 2008 series banquet, we are forced to postpone the banquet to an undetermined date. We assure all the competitors that the banquet is not cancelled only postponed. We are searching for another venue and the details will be posted as soon as we confirm them. We apologize to our drivers, their families, and fans for any inconvience this may have caused and are working hard to resolve this situation.

Though it is unknown where the event will be held, series director Chris Hammer is looking at some other venues and trying to get the event scheduled before racing season begins in the area. Tenetively the new banquet date would fall on either a Friday or Saturday night in the last week of March or the first week of April. If the banquet is forced back further the series will do everything they can to ensure our competitors can attend without missing points races at their hometracks.

December 28, 2008 - Gearing Up for the 2009 Season

The Gears Have Started Turning, 2009 Is Just Around the Corner

Stuarts Draft, VA - The Steelblock Mid-Atlantic Racing Tour would like to take this time to wish all of our competitors, sponsors and fans a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

The 2009 schedule is currently in the works as we continue to work with many tracks, new and old, to secure 2009 dates. As we are all aware and effected by the current economy, many tracks are feeling the heat. This does not stop with the tracks however. Many touring series as well as weekly competitors will surely feel an impact in 2009. The S.M.A.R.T series has worked hard to offer a completely restructured format for each track that improves on track affordability and competitor overhead. The 2009 season will see set purse structures with shows at $1,500 to win and $150 to start. The top 6 non-qualifiers from the B-mains will receive tow money in the amount of one hundred dollars.
